★ Heroes for Nero ★
The Cape House team, along with our whole Cape Cod community, is stunned and heartbroken by the tragic events of April 12, 2018. On that day, Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon was killed in the line of duty by a career criminal. His K-9 partner Nero also was shot, though he survived.
Inspired by Nero and as a gesture of love and support to him, to Sergeant Gannon's family, and to all those who serve, both human and K-9, we are holding this event to raise funds for the Cape & Island Police K9 Relief Fund which supports police service dogs in their retirement. This is a fantastic local organization managed by Joe Ambrosini, former K-9 handler and Deputy Superintendent for Public Safety, Barnstable County Sheriff's Office. The fund is entirely run through donations.
We are so grateful to our stellar team of volunteer organizers and to Lynne and Matt White, owners of West Yarmouth's Howladay Inn of Cape Cod Boarding Daycare & Training, for generously donating their space. (Note: Since this event has grown so much, for safety we need to make this a humans-only event ... but look for a separate dog-friendly event to come!)
